Decription: In December 2003 Turnbull Environmental was contracted by the St. Johns River Water Management District to implement a wetland mitigation project at the Econlockahatchee State Forest, located in Seminole County. The project was conducted at two separate locations, and entailed earthen berm removal, ditch filling, culvert installation, and installation of geoweb systems to provide a low-water crossing, and to create a weir and stabilized sidebanks of an altered stream system, thereby enhancing the adjacent wetlands.
The project was conducted successfully in an environmentally sensitive State Forest, with strong attention paid to installing and maintaining stringent erosion and sediment control measures.
